How admission works

The district calls a specialty program school “a school with a specific focus that draws students from all over the county,” according to its school assignment page:

  • Families apply through the district’s online application. For 2026-27, applications taken March 2 to April 10, 2026, went into the lottery; kindergarten notifications went out by April 30.
  • Applications after the deadline go on a waitlist, which for Gregory stays open until the day before school starts on the traditional calendar.
  • Transportation is provided if needed once a student is accepted.
  • New families must first submit a new-student application to their zoned school, with a birth certificate, proof of address and parent ID, or the lottery application is denied.

Families can submit up to three applications in total across year-round, specialty and open choice options. The district’s School Locator shows each address’s zoned schools.
