Father’s Day 2027 is Sunday, June 20. The city’s own Father’s Day program is a free donuts and coffee social at Maides Park, held on a weekday before the holiday. Car shows and brunch specials for 2027 were not posted when we checked; we will add them from each organizer’s site.

Dads & Donuts at Maides Park

The city’s Dads & Donuts honors fathers and father figures with donuts, coffee and time with family at Maides Park, 1101 Manly Ave. It is free, open to families and caregivers, and needs no registration. In 2026 it was Friday, June 5, from 10 to 11:30 a.m., according to the city’s 2026 listing. The city’s seasonal programs page had not announced the 2027 date.

Outings for Dad

  • Battleship North Carolina, 1 Battleship Road: open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, rain or shine, with nine levels on the self-guided tour; plan on at least two hours. Adults $14, seniors $10, military families with ID $10, children 6 to 11 $6 and 5 and under free (visitor page). The ship also runs Hidden Battleship tours of unrestored spaces for ages 16 and up, $75 plus tax; its February, March and April 2027 dates were sold out on its programs page when we checked.
  • Wilmington Railroad Museum: summer hours from Memorial Day, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday (website).
  • Cape Fear Museum, 230 Grace St.: open 1 to 5 p.m. Sundays, with a planetarium in its new building (admission).
  • Fishing and paddling: Greenfield Park and Archie Blue Park have fishing and kayak or water access, according to the city’s parks amenities list.
